This striking Kenworth T600 is owned by Reid's Transport Ltd of Rangiotu, located just south of Palmerston North. The truck is a 1989 model originally owned by Alexander's running as a tractor unit and was converted to a rigid configuration for use as a tipper.
The Kenworth runs a 425hp Cat 3406B engine that has recently been rebuilt. While the truck was off the road driver Edan spent some time adding some accessories that he imported from the States.
Edan spent five years driving and working in North Dakota, U.S.A. so decided to import some parts for the truck. The drop visor and the distinctive "Bull Hauler" exhausts were purchased from 4state trucks. Other accessories purchased include the bonnet wing, aerials, hubs, bonnet scoops and number plate holder. All the parts were fitted to the truck by Edan including the fitting of an additional exhaust and the result is an impressive transformation.
Reid's operates seven other trucks in their fleet including four other Kenworths, two Macks and a Western Star. The T600 covers much of the lower North Island hauling mainly aggregate in a four axle trailer.
Thanks to Reid's Transport and Edan for his time.
